OPG Bubičić is a traditional agricultural farm from Dračevac near Poreč, which has been engaged in agriculture for more than 100 years. Dračevac is a village 7 km southeast of Poreč in a fertile agricultural area between Žbandaj and Fuškulin where the Bubičić family, like other inhabitants, have been engaged in viticulture, cereals, olives, vegetables, and livestock (cattle and pigs) for years.
In the last few years, the Bubičić family (called Tončala) has specialized in olive growing and the production of extra virgin olive oil, as well as growing vegetables and especially quality garlic.
Natural
It is grown on strictly natural principles without additional growth and development promoters that are not natural for olives. The olive is a Mediterranean tree accustomed to harsh conditions.
Biodiversity
Without fertilizer
There is no fertilization with mineral fertilizers on the olive grove, and organic fertilizer (manure) is applied very rarely (approx. every 5 years).
Without pesticide spraying
With its biodiversity, the olive grove tolerates pests and diseases very well, so there has never been spraying with any, not even eco-friendly preparations.
Without irrigation
Under the mechanical procedures in the Oil Mill in Žbandaj, directly from the fruit of olives grown only on our own olive grove, there is a lawn in the aslina, so the soil is treated with mulching to ensure soil moisture in the summer. Looseness is also achieved by occasional raking of the soil.
The olive grove has mostly olive trees of the Buža variety and a few trees of Rovinj’s Rosinjola.
Pruning is done regularly once a year in the spring, and summer pruning of watercress.
The production of olive oil is carried out exclusively by mechanical procedures in the Oil Mill in Žbandaj, directly from the fruit of olives grown only on our own olive grove in Dračevac. Olives are produced freshly harvested to preserve the quality of the oats and are stored in closed stainless steel barrels.
