Hi! We are the Dumendžić family
OPG Slavica Dumendžić deals with beekeeping and fruit growing. We have 96 beehives from which we buy honey, propolis and pollen. We grow plums, apples, quinces and apricots on two hectares of orchards. We treat the entire plantation only with copper in the winter period, and we use the obtained fruit exclusively for processing into homemade jams. We make jams in the traditional way with a small amount of sugar and preservatives. We are extremely proud of our plum and apple/cinnamon jam, which we make without sugar. The quantities at our disposal are five to six thousand jars of jam and three tons of honey.
Homemade jams made in the traditional way according to Grandma Ana’s recipe!
Even before returning to Vukovar during the exile in Pula, we planned the production of healthy food – products that we once consumed as children. These were healthy products that our grandmothers made according to a proven recipe passed down from generation to generation, and which we now wanted to produce ourselves for our children. With this idea, we started the production of local healthy products in Vukovar. Currently, in addition to honey, we also produce healthy jams without artificial additives and sweeteners/flavor enhancers according to the original homemade recipe.
Our small family farm is gradually passing on its knowledge, experience and love for the production of indigenous and healthy food to the children. Thus, our eldest daughter Helena is included in all the plans we have for the future development and expansion of production to new productions. From the age of sixteen, Helena started making gingerbread. Now she has started the production of quince and walnut cakes, the so-called kitkez (Quittenkäse) according to an old recipe that our grandmothers adopted from their Volksdeutsche neighbors.
As a family business, we want to pass on good values to our children and instill in their development the kind of work habits that for generations through our parents, grandparents, passed on knowledge and faith in a better future.
